Rebound Like a Boss Fight.
Rebounding isn’t “just hustle.” It’s a control loop: see it → hit first → track → secure → outlet. The best rebounders don’t hope — they execute.
Rebound Settings
- Objective: Win possessions (rebounds = extra chances).
- Awareness: Find a body before the ball hits the floor.
- Energy: First contact wins.
- Reward: Secure → outlet → run the lane.
The Rebound Control Loop (5 Steps)
Run this loop every shot — yours or theirs. You’re not “crashing.” You’re completing a mission.
- 1) Scan (Radar) The shot goes up → locate your matchup immediately.
- 2) Hit First (Contact) Make legal contact with your body: hips + forearm. No reaching.
- 3) Track (Read the Bounce) Eyes follow the ball. High hands. Stay balanced.
- 4) Secure (Two Hands + Chin) Catch strong with two hands, bring to your chin, elbows out.
- 5) Outlet (Next Play) Pivot, find a guard, or dribble out. Turn defense into offense.
Rebounding Drills (Action Pack)
Pick 2–3 drills per session. Track your “boards” like a high score.
1) Hit-Spin-Get
Coach shoots. You find a body → hit first → spin to the ball → secure two hands.
2) Tip & Chin
Tip the ball to yourself once, then grab and bring it to your chin. No drops.
3) 1v1 “Boss Fight” Boards
One shot, one rebound, one winner. Rebound = point. First to 5 wins.
4) Triangle Box-Out
3 players: shooter + 2 rebounders. Find body, hit, track, secure, outlet.
5) Outlet Sprint
Rebound → chin → pivot → outlet pass → sprint the lane. Train the “next play.”
6) Rebound Timer Challenge
How many clean rebounds in 45 seconds? Record score. Beat it next week.
- “Hit first.” Contact wins space.
- “Two hands.” One-hand rebounds turn into turnovers.
- “Chin it.” Secure like you’re protecting the last life.
- “Outlet and run.” The rebound starts the break.
