Fourth Quarter Routine
A 3-step checklist for pressure moments. When the game gets tight, you don’t need more emotion — you need a simple routine that puts you back in control.
1
PAUSE (2 breaths)
Stop the spiral. Slow down your body so your mind can read the moment.
2
READ (What’s the next play?)
Pick one simple objective: get a stop, box out, make the extra pass, attack the gap.
3
EXECUTE (One possession)
No hero mode. No rushing. Win the next possession with effort + focus.
Quick Checklist (Use Every Timeout)
- Body: shoulders down, jaw loose, breathe.
- Eyes: see the floor, see the matchup, see the clock.
- Job: what’s my next play on offense/defense?
- Effort: sprint back, talk, box out, two hands.
- Discipline: no fouls, no complaining, no drifting.
Controller Rule: Pressure doesn’t control you — you control the next play.
